Our Classes

Pre-school:

These programs allow children from 2,5 yrs to school age to discover the joy of dance and movement in a fun and musical way. The classes use basic ballet or modern skills along with storytelling and creative play to help build their strength, stability and gross motor skills, whilst also giving them confidence and enjoyment.

Available from 2,5 yrs - School age (41/2yrs)

Ballet:

The core of all dance training, ballet teaches elegance, poise, stretch, centre, length of line and fluidity of movement. Smaller children love the graceful arms and tip toe feet, and as they grow they gain the strength and technique needed in all forms of dance

Tap:

Competitions

Dewsbury Dance Centre regularly competes in regional dance festivals, and once a child has been dancing with us for a year or more they may wish to talk to us about joining the competition team. This requires a certain level of commitment, hard work and regular attendance and team memebers will have to achieve a certain level of parformance before they are permitted to compete, but the rewards of regular performances and working towards definite goals can be huge. For more information speak to Miss Lucie.

Adult Dance Classes

You are never too old to find your love of dance, and whether for fitness or fun you'll love our adult classes Ballet Tone & Stretch The class starts with a warm up and body toning section which includes elements of Pilates, Yoga and basic ballet, before moving to the barre to begin a classical ballet class. New dancers will learn the basic movements and steps that make up a ballet class, whilst more experienced dancers will rediscover their technique and develop their dance ability.

Open to all abilities 18yrs+

Just Dance This hugely popular class puts the nitty, gritty aside and lets you "Just Dance". In this class we learn a variety of routines from pop to lyrical, musical theatre to jive. We tend to work on a routine for 3 to 4 weeks to allow you to grow in confidence and allow your muscle memory to set in, before moving on to a new number. We find this means the class is never boring, yet you get the achievement of learning a full routine to a point of competence. (Probably my favourite class of the week)
